Lee Schneider, Executive Director
Dr. Lee Schneider, a three-time Rutgers alumnus who has had a long and distinguished career at the university, is the executive director of the Rutgers Parents Association and senior advisor to the vice president for student affairs on student life issues. As executive director, Dr. Schneider will serve as an advocate for parents and the university, both internally and externally, by facilitating communication and creating a climate that fosters mutual understanding.
The Rutgers Parents Association will implement programs and services that inform parents and families about valuable resources, critical issues, and topics relevant to student success. Additionally, the association will design and sponsor programs that promote parent and family involvement in the life of the university and create opportunities for participation in their student's experience. Dr. Schneider received his three academic degrees from Rutgers: a B.S. from the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science, an M.S. from the Graduate School, and an Ed.D. from the Graduate School of Education.
For the past 37 years, Lee has served Rutgers in a variety of roles. He has been an academic instructor, a Rutgers football coach, a dean of academic and student programs, and, for the past 19 years, the dean of students at Cook College. Lee's accomplishments as dean of students include the development of the Cook College Leadership Development Program and the Cook College Parents Association. Just as important, he has been a mentor and friend to thousands of Cook students. While an undergraduate, Lee was captain of the 1969 Centennial Football Team and a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Dr. Schneider is active in several Rutgers alumni associations and the Cook College Parents Association, and he is vice president of the Rutgers Football Letter Winners Association. He has been inducted into the Rutgers Football Hall of Fame, twice was the Cook College baccalaureate speaker, earned the George Hammell Cook Distinguished Alumni Award, and in 2005 received the Rutgers University Alumni Federation Meritorious Service Award.

Student Assistants
The Rutgers Parents Association is happy to employ a diverse group of Rutgers Students. Below are a few who worked in our office this past year and, in their own words, share their own education and career goals:
Kimberly Stanek
I am working as a work study student for The Rutgers Parents Association. I am currently a first-year student at Rutgers University majoring in Mathematics and working to receive a Masters Degree in Education. After graduating from Bernards High School, I decided to attend Rutgers University to pursue my dream of becoming a middle school math teacher. In high school I was very involved within my school and community. Along with participating in numerous activities and organizations, I also had a part time job as an assistant teacher for two and a half years at a local daycare. After working as an assistant teacher, I discovered my passion for children and teaching. I plan on combining my love for children and teaching with my passion for mathematics to become a middle school math teacher. I plan to become very involved at Rutgers University for the years to come. And by working with a wonderful staff at The Rutgers Parents Association, I hope to gain many new experiences!
Jessica Hinds
I am from Paterson, NJ, currently a student in The School of Environmental & Biological Sciences, here at Rutgers University. I am a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in which I was class president for three years, a member of The National Honor Society and Who’s Who Among American High School Student’s, just to name a few. I have had the opportunity to work/volunteer with organizations such as Paterson Habitat for Humanity, The Youth Leadership Council, the YMCA LEAP program (Leadership Education Apprentice in Paterson), and an active member in my church/youth group. As a SEBS student my major is Biological Science with the intentions to minor in Criminal Justice. My goal in life is to become a Forensic Pathologist. I have embraced everything that Rutgers has to offer me. Last semester I was a Rutgers Color Guard, this semester I have joined the Rutgers Liberated Gospel Choir and the SEBS Student Recruitment Committee, which I enjoy being apart of very much. This semester I am working with the Rutgers Parents Association as an office assistant, as part of my work studies program. Not only do we reach out to the parents, but also other organizations to help benefit the Rutgers community as a whole. Some of my duties at the Parents Association consist of telecommunication, data entry, and assisting the staff in whatever office activities that are needed. While working here I realized the importance of the Parent Associations’ involvement with Rutgers University. I am completing my first year at Rutgers University and have found Rutgers to be everything I expected it to be for me. I look forward to being apart of the Rutgers Community for years to come.
